Norwegian schools may resume copyingKopinor and The Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS) have agreed on how to solve the remaining issues regarding the copying agreement. The unresolved matters will be decided by the Remuneration Tribunal. After 96 days, the ban on copying in schools and local government was lifted April 7th. The price per copy-page, and the payment of print-outs from the Internet, will be decided by the Remuneration Tribunal. KS and Kopinor have agreed to carry out a new statistical survey in 2007. The payment from 2008 will be based on the results of this survey. The two organisations have also agreed to allow a "reasonable and limited" re-use of photocopies. The scope and limitations of this re-use will be decided by the tribunal. As a consequence of this agreement, schools and local authorities are again allowed to make copies from books, newspapers or magazines, as well as printouts from the Internet, for internal and educational use. From January 1st, this has been illegal without direct permission from the individual rights holders concerned. 7 April 2006
