At Kopinor’s anniversary celebrations 20 May 2005, Serman Chavula, Malawi, and Tarja Koskinen-Olsson, Finland, received the Kopinor 25th Anniversary Award. Mr. Chavula and Ms. Koskinen-Olsson were honoured for their important and enduring international achievements in the field of collective rights management.

The anniversary awards (of NOK 75.000) were presented by the Kopinor Chair, Prof. Helge Rønning, and the Executive Director, Mr. John-Willy Rudolph in recognition of their “important and enduring international achievements in the field of collective rights management, and as an incentive for continued efforts on behalf of rights holders the world over”
Serman Chavula is the Copyright Administrator and Executive Director of the Copyright Society of Malawi (COSOMA) from its inception in 1992. Furthermore, he has been involved in extensive activities as a consultant and expert within WIPO and other copyright and related rights organisations throughout the African continent.
Tarja Koskinen-Olsson is an independent expert in IPR-related matters. Her expertise comes from a wide range of activities within collective management of copyright and related rigths. She served as the CEO of Kopiosto (Joint Finnish Copyright Society) from 1987 to 2003. From 1993 to 1999, she served as Chairman of IFRRO (International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organisations). In 2001, she was nominated as Honorary President
Three days of conferences
Kopinor’s 25th anniversary was marked by three days of conferences, culminating on Friday, 20 May with the Kopinor 25th Anniversary International Symposium followed by an anniversary dinner.
